When it comes to scams, there are a ton of them going around it seems. And every now and then a new scam pops up. Some of these scams are conducting over the phone, but many are also done online.

And now the Lubbock Police Department is out warning citizens against a new scam happening here in Lubbock.

Lubbock Police Warn Residents About New Scam

On Wednesday the Lubbock Police Department sent out a press release warning residents about this new scam.

According to Lubbock Police residents are getting a phone call from a person identifying themselves as Detective Davenport with the Lubbock Police Department. The person doing this telling people that they have an outstanding warrant they that they must pay over the phone. They are also telling people that they can pay with gift cards.

Lubbock Police Will Never Ask You For Money Over the Phone

It's important to remember that the Lubbock Police Department, and most other law enforcement agencies in America, will never contact you over the phone to ask for money or to tell you about a warrant. They absolutely won't contact you ask you to pay in gift cards.

It's just another reason to ignore a phone number you don't recognize.
