There's A Billion Podcasts Available On The Internet But One Texas "Podcaster" Is In Big Trouble For Some Scary Threats He Allegedly Made.

Damn near everybody has a podcast nowadays, including the author of this article. You can find one for every genre or niche possible from true crime stories to pets.

The problem with most "podcasters" is that they believe that they can spout whatever they want about whoever they want without facing repercussions. One East Texas man is learning that the hard way right now.

64-Year-Old Gary Lynn Treadwell has been charged with three counts of obstruction or retaliation.

According to a report from KLTV, a Smith County Sheriff’s Office detective was notified on May 19 that Treadwell had aired two episodes of a podcast, recorded from his home in Flint, allegedly claiming he was going to kill Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith, Smith County District Attorney Jacob Putman and Henderson County District Attorney Jenny Palmer.

Treadwell was charged with three counts of obstruction or retaliation, one for each public official he allegedly threatened.

The first episode was labeled “Kill Them,” and the second, titled “Done,”.

The report added that during the episodes, Treadwell can be heard saying to “put them into a room and he would kill them.” In another segment at 8:09 p.m., he made further statements “to kill them” and went on to say a holiday was coming up, and he would be the executioner if they appeared together.

The document says Treadwell claimed he would set a trap for the three public officials. Treadwell was arrested and booked into the Smith County Jail on May 21, then moved to the Gregg County Jail on May 31. His bond has been set at $750,000 and special conditions for his bond include a requirement to stay at least 500 feet away from the officials he is accused of threatening.
