Maybe I shouldn't be so harsh when setting this post up. After all, there are probably some of these people who gave it their best shot, but just didn't understand the assignment. When it comes to the latter, well then that's the bosses fault for not making sure they knew what they were supposed to do. Instructions are important, y'all!

But Did They Deserve It?

Then again, we have a lot of people who showed up in no condition to work, showed up late, or didn't show up at all. It always amazes me that some people won't take personal responsibility and at least arrive on time. Isn't the old saying, "Showing up is half the job"? I think, most people will give you the benefit of the doubt if you just step up to the plate and take a couple of swings.

Damage Done

I guess I also have to mention that more than a few of these stories also have big damages, or the newbie created some kind of liability that would make it impossible to keep them on. I would think a company that sees a guy run a fork lift into something might be very worried if he runs that forklift into a person, because his ineptitude had been displayed before.
