There was a time that taking a train in Texas was very common for transportation, now it seems like most people prefer an airplane or using their own vehicle. Although there are still lots of trains that are available for those in Texas who want to travel aboard a train.

If you’re wanting to take the longest passenger train ride in Texas, it’s currently aboard Amtrak’s Texas Eagle. The journey itself is approximately 830 miles and shows much of the beauty that Texas has to offer along it’s route.

You’re going to see a big portion of the Lone Star State. It’s a long trip but you’re going to see both big and small towns across Texas. 

Some of the big Texas towns you would see if you were to hop aboard the Texas Eagle includes Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio. 

The route of around 830 miles actually begins in Texarkana and ends in El Paso.

I’ve found coach seats for a little over $100 each way as long as you book your ticket in advance. If you’re wanting to travel in style, a private room on the train will cost you around $500 each way. 

Pack your patience if you take a ride on the train. The trip from Texarkana to El Paso would take approximately 32 hours and 33 minutes each way.
