What's that ol' saying? Something like "everything is bigger in Texas," yup. That's it. Unfortunately, it's still true when it comes to the size of our creepy crawling/flying critters too.

For the most part, we Texans take pride in everything being bigger. I think we'd all take pride in being smaller, though, in this department. It's sad, but true, we've got some truly Texas-sized bugs that call the Lone Star State home.

The BIGGEST Bugs That Call Texas Home

Ever wondered how many insects live inside Texas' borders? Thanks to Texas being desirable to their needs, offering up a good food and water supply, pristine environmental factors, mating patterns, and other factors, hundreds of different types of insects can be found here.

According to Insect Identification, there are 1,525 Texas insects recorded in the site's database. Yep, that means there are at least that many insect species in Texas. And there are quite likely more, they have just yet to be found.

Of course, we're all aware that insects play a vital role on our planet, but that doesn't mean we have to like them -- aside from rolly pollies, butterflies, cute caterpillars, and ladybugs.

So, this spring while you're dodging mosquito killers on your back patio, rest easy knowing that at least it's not Tarantula Hawks. Man, I don't care how important or super-nice those things are I never want to cross paths with one.

So for everyone who's been dying to know, out of the 1,000+ bugs that call Texas home, these are five of the biggest. Thanks to Alvin Pest Control.
