As many times as I have been to the San Antonio Riverwalk, I have never seen anyone in the water. However, in the day and age of social media, it was just a matter of time before it popped up on my feed.

Why would anyone jump into a green river?

Over the weekend, several videos went viral of a woman jumping into the San Antonio Riverwalk to retrieve her phone. In the video, you see that the woman took off her shoes to jump into the water after her phone.

Even though the riverwalk isn't deep, it's still just a phone.

The woman slowly stepped into the green-colored riverwalk and felt around with her feet for about eight minutes. She only found a brick and a couple of stones. While she did not locate her phone, she did find herself going viral.
@doskogirl We watched this lady search for her phone in the San Antonio River on the Riverwalk. She looked for over 8 minutes and only found a brick and 2 rocks. She never found her phone. #tiktokfamous#sanantonioriverwalk#lostphone#sanantonio#fyp♬ original sound - Doskogirl

According to a City of San Antonio ordinance, it is indeed illegal to jump, wade, swim, or even touch the San Antonio River while at the Riverwalk. You could be cited and fined up to $500.00!
