FILE EARLY!

If you do get all the necessary paperwork on time ... file early, why, because you will get your refund early and we all look forward to that bonus money each year.

Another reason to file early is so that no one can steal your information and try to file under your name and get your well-earned money!

It will also give you more time to pay if you owe money.  Even if you file now and you owe money you have until the deadline April 15th, 2024, to pay it off.

HOW LONG TIL YOU GET YOUR REFUND?

If you file electronically and the IRS finds no mistakes, then you should receive your Tax Return in about 21 days.  If you mail your return in via USPS then it could take as much as 4 weeks.  There is the travel time, an IRS employee has to open your form and then manually enter all your information into the system.

HOW CAN YOU CHECK THE STATUS OF YOUR RETURN?

There are numerous ways to check, first if you have filed through a service such as H & R Block, you can get your status from their site. If you filed yourself the easiest way is to go to Refunds | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov) and tap the link "Check my Refund"

The IRS as a general rule would have updates for Taxes filed electronically available in 24 hours, if you mailed your return in, it is usually 4 weeks.
