Many people across the United States woke up this morning to no phone service and a SOS on their home screen causing the panic to ensue. Here's what we do know;

They are saying that about 1 in 2 customers reported some kind of problem with their mobile device.  Another 40% had no signal at all.  The most affected locations seems to be Texas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and right here in the Permian Basin.  Also in places like Miami, Chicago, New York, Indianapolis and Atlanta.

AT&T issued a statement earlier today to address the service interruptions and to assure customers that they are working urgently to get the service back up and running. The outages began about 2:30am and peaked at 9am on AT&T and other providers such as Verizon, T-Mobile and Cricket.

This is making it very difficult for emergency services such as 911 to operate if phones are out and parents panicking if they are unable to contact their kids and business unable to operate.

AT&T has issued no explanation on what has caused the outages, which is where the panic begins and the conspiracy stories start.  Was it China hacking into the phone service?  Was it a Solar Flare?  What happens now?  Many phone lines are already up and running and we do know AT&T is working to solve the problem but until then maybe we should all purchase a CB Radio, Rotary Phone or learn Morse code!  Oh for the good ol days!
