Meet The Expert

Midland Teachers Credit Union started for the teachers and then grew to offer services for auxillary employees of the eduction system. Consequently, they became community charter to benefit family and friends of current members and Midland, Martin, and Glasscock Counties.

Credit unions exist to help people, not make a profit. Their goal is to serve all of their members well, including those of modest means - every member counts. Their members are fiercely loyal for this reason. They know their credit union will be there for them in bad times, as well as good. The same people-first philosophy causes credit unions and their employees to get involved in community charitable activities and worthwhile causes - just ask them.

Tip #1
Their primary goal at MTCU is to provide affordable personal loans to their members. Having good credit is a plus, but not always necessary. A great way to maintain your credit is by checking your reports annually, to make sure that everything is correct. Through AnnualCreditReport.com, you are given access to all three credit reports, once a year for free. Your credit score will not be shown, but you can read over the reports and make sure there are no signs of fraud or inconsistencies.
Tip #2
MTCU works hard to build relationships and we take pleasure in helping our member-owners with their lending needs. Getting started with credit can be confusing, but they’re here to help you get your credit growing. Having better credit can help build a better life for you and your family. The way to start is to start small and prove you are a good risk. It’s not an overnight process, but something you can work to build. Also, be reliable and pay on time and as agreed. When you start out, you may find that your interest rates are high but over time you can cultivate a long lasting financial partnership where they work together to achieve your financial goals.
